Hometown Heroes Update

 The Florida Legislature passed the 2025-2026 Fiscal Year Budget on June 16, 2025. The budget appropriates $50 million to Florida Housing in new funding for the 2025 Hometown Heroes Loan Program but also requires significant changes from the 2024 Program. The budget is now on its way to Governor DeSantis and will not be final until his review and approval.

As it currently stands, the 2025 Hometown Heroes Loan Program will only be available to borrowers who are employed full-time by a Florida-based employer in the following eligible occupations:

1)     Healthcare worker;

2)     School staff member;

3)     First responder;

4)     Public safety employee;

5)     Court employee;

6)     Childcare worker;

7)     A service member of the United States military or military reserves, the United States Coast Guard or its reserves, or the Florida National Guard; or

8)     A veteran employed full-time by a Florida-based employer.

The Hometown Heroes Program funds will NOT be available on July 1st this year.

The Hometown Heroes Program provides down payment and closing cost assistance to first-time, income-quaified homebuyers so they can purchase a primary residence in the community in which they work and serve.

Florida born, Tampa Bay raised

In a world where big-box real estate websites and iBuyers dominate search engines, finding a local agent who truly knows your area is becoming more difficult. Lyndie House was raised in Tampa Bay and has been helping clients buy and sell homes here since 2005. National websites cannot match that kind of firsthand local expertise. Whether you are in Hillsborough or Pasco County, it is important to work with a Realtor who understands your neighborhood, not rely on an algorithm guessing your home’s value.
